Everything’s Blue!

Everything’s Blue!

An interesting thing happens when you swim underwater; the more deeply you go the more colour disappears. The first colour to go is red, then oranges, then yellows, then greens.  If you go deeply enough everything simply looks blue.   But if you take a torch scuba diving you recover all the lost colours in the things the light shines on.  Sometimes our world seems so blue! What we need is a light to restore things back to their intended colour.

12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Jesus restores colour to life and expects those who follow him to share in his work.

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven. (Matt 5)

Jesus does not want us to hide our faith, but rather showcase it.  Let us shine this Christmas! Let us be generous to non-expecting people in unexpected ways.  Let us declare Christ some time this Christmas!  In a blue world people use Christmas as a time to restore colour to life. Let us make our faith visible to show them the true colours of life.
