Passion of Christ

What is Jesus passionate about?  Jesus is passionate about drawing people towards himself.  As the Son of God, He has been calling people to Him for hundreds of years before He came to earth!

How often have I desired to gather your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! (Luke 13:34)

Jesus shares this passion for evangelism with his Father in heaven.

God our Savior, who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Tim 2:3-4)

When some Pharisees wrote people off, Jesus’ response shows us that His passion for evangelism is fueled by mercy.

13 Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.”  (Matt 9:13)

Despite His passion for mercy, Jesus is also passionate for judgment day. He wants judgment day to come so that sin will be no more.

49 “I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!  50 I have a baptism with which to be baptised, and what stress I am under until it is completed! ”  (Luke 12)

Finally, Jesus is passionate about us sharing his passion

15 “I know your works; you are neither cold nor hot. I wish that you were either cold or hot. 16 So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to spit you out of my mouth.”  (Revelation 3)

Let us share in Jesus’ passion by mercifully sharing our faith with every opportunity He gives.
