Social Media & Darkness

SOCIAL MEDIA & DARKNESS

Our current drought is hitting our farmers hard; but what is making it worse is social media.

“Too much time spent on social media is increasing anxiety and stress for some primary producers, and they are being warned to reduce their online interactions and instead focus on what is within their control.”

Some of our farmers are in a dark place, and it seems that when they share their darkness with others they make it worse.  What they need is some light!

There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?

Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”

You have put more joy in my heart than they have

when their grain and wine abound. (Psalm 4)

When David wrote this psalm there was a negative vibe flowing. Many people were literally saying “Who will show us some good?”.  David’s responsive hope was that these people would see the face of the Lord. To see the face of the Lord was to be close to God, to have his attention, and be blessed.  As far as David was concerned, being close to God was a blessing better than any festival (v.7)

This Christmas pray and ask God to draw close to your friends and family who do not know him.

This Christmas behave in such a way that people do not see your face but see the face of God in your actions.

This Christmas invite people to church that they can experience the words of God and know that there is someone who will show them good.
