EBaying for Jesus

Recently, I sold a bunch of stuff on eBay, and I was wondering what I would do with the money? There were things I wanted to get; I was excited that I had money to buy that “something” that I could not justify purchasing from family funds.

Then there was a massive explosion in Beirut…

All of a sudden that expensive thing, that I wanted, did not seem so important. I went online to look into giving to the church in Lebanon. But after some searching, I decided not to give to the disaster in Lebanon. Instead, I felt led to give money to help Christian widows, being persecuted, in Afghanistan. I transferred about half the money from my “sales” to help. I felt in my heart that this was a great way to use my money.

Then, one week later, God spoke in my personal devotion.
Rescue those being led away to death;
hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,”
does not he who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not he who guards your life know it?
Will he not repay everyone according to what they have done?
Proverbs 24: 10 – 12

A generous, active God wants us to be actively generous. He even sent his Son to die, to save us from slaughter. Further, he even pays us back for our generosity as though he was indebted to us?! I cannot wait for God to pay me back this money; and when he does, I will use what he gives me to help others in need.

Selfish living is small living. Generosity for God is positively intoxicating. Get onto eBay, gumtree … sell, sell, sell … give, give, give. Watch the Lord work!
