As time passes I grow. I am growing fat, growing old, growing slow, growing forgetful, growing forgetful – did I say that?  While part of me is growing one way, there is another part of me growing another way. The Bible says it best.

23 For you… having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because

“All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away, 25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Now this is the word which, by the gospel, was preached to you.

2:1 Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, 3 if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. (1 Peter 1:23-2:2)

The Bible tells us that, through God’s Word, we are born again and live forever.  The eternity of the Word is passed on to those in whom it has been planted.  We also learn that the same Word of God that gave us birth is essential to our growth (2:2).

Christians crave the Word of God as babies crave milk.  We grizzle and cry for more if we don’t feed; we are soothed as we feed; we grow as we digest; we sleep best after a good feed.

In 2017 get into regular Bible reading; join a Bible study; feed yourself.  If you need help please ask – I will help.  The Lord is gracious.
