Young and Strong

As I get older everything in life seems more of an effort.  No matter where I walk it is always up hill.  I no longer take work home at night because I know I cannot think clearly as I did years ago.  Oh to be young again, when my knees were silent and I could get off the couch without grunting… (This is your cue to shed a tear!)  Imagine being young again; young people never tire… Is this true though?

Old people and young people tire in different ways.  With repetitive tasks young people often grow weary quickly; their strength is sapped by the thought ‘Not again, what’s the point’.  Older people, however, may feel faint; they have the focus but lack the power needed for the task.  The Lord helps both.

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.  (Isaiah 40)

Our Lord is the giver, increaser, and renewer of strength.  God indeed gives us more than we need enabling us to soar for Him.  The next time you feel you are not up to doing something God’s way, take time out to pray ……. then, do it.
